LidalNorth International Opera Workshop was created by John Lidal. The mission of the program is to provide a comprehensive program for singers at an advanced level, including: vocal technique, vocal coaching, and body and movement coaching, masterclasses, and performance opportunities. We believe that through hard work and careful planning, we can make LidalNorth a program that spotlights international talent and helps them on their way to operatic careers on the international stage.

Lidal North International Opera Workshop will continue to be a program in which singers, teachers, and supporters will feel proud to participate. We know we can provide the highest quality-training and performance opportunities to the finest young singers in the world - truly the "up and coming" opera stars of the future.

As part of the 2012 LidalNorth International Opera Workshop in Oslo, we are offering role-study and performance of Francis Poulenc’s opera DIALOGUES DES CARMÉLITES.

LidalNorth International Opera Workshop

The LidalNorth International Opera Workshop in Oslo, Norway, will take place JULY 12 - JULY 23, at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet.

We will be offering daily individual voice lessons, coachings, masterclasses, and performance opportunities. Francis Poulenc’s opera DIALOGUES DES CARMÉLITES will be forming an important part of this year’s workshop. All participants should expect to be involved in this project.

The cast/s of Dialogues des Carmélites will be decided at the faculty’s discretion as applications come in. Singers who are chosen to take part in Dialogues des Carmélites, will be expected to have their music fully memorized upon arrival in Oslo.

Because Master classes and coachings are one-on-one, registration will be limited to the number of available slots. Please apply early.

A pre-screening application and audition (via 1 soundtrack sent by email) are required for all first-time participants unless notified otherwise by a member of the LidalNorth Faculty. To receive an online application form, email lidalnorth@gmail.com

Tuition fee is NOK 9500. One fee for all. Scholarships are not available. See account details below.

Singers must provide their own transportation to and from Oslo, as well as their own housing. Oslo is an expensive city. Booking your accommodation early may reduce these costs.
